Antler Trails Kennel Up is a modern dog boarding facility designed by us for visiting campers to enjoy.  We are proud to offer boarding and
training for your canine friend at our beautiful 220 acres homestead.  We are known as one of the best dog boarding facilities in Northern
Minnesota, caring for police dogs, service dogs, veterinarian's dogs, and puppy dogs simply loved by their parents!  Antler Trails Kennel Up is a
member of ABKA and the Duluth Retriever Club, along with volunteering as a puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence.  We
promise your best friend will receive the best care possible and lots of attention while they are visiting us for dog boarding or training.
Camper's and their parents love our laid-back, country setting, along with our clean facility, friendly camp counselors, and the one on one
personal attention their camper receives while staying with us.  We will soon be offering dog training classes for the public, along with private
instruction.  Watch for the de-tails in the next few months.  Antler Trails Kennel Up is located in Kettle River, Minnesota, convenient from

Welcome to Antler Trails
The home of Rick and Donna Edington

Antler Trails came to be in 1998, when Rick and
Donna purchased the Heiskari family farmstead
from Donna's Uncle Paul.  Once a working dairy/beef
cattle farm with 160 acres, the Edington's had to
decide what their vision of the farm and land was
going to be.  That's how Antler Trails, Labradors of
Antler Trails, and Antler Trails Kennel Up came to be.

About Labradors of Antler Trails

The Labs of Antler Trails started in 2001 with our first lab
Sadie.  Sadie was an adult lab adopted through a
shelter in southern Minnesota.  She was everything a lab
person would want in a companion lab, a best buddy.
Unfortunately, our time together was short.  Sadie passed
away from cancer 7 months after joining our family.  In
those 7 months though, she taught us so much.  We learned
all the joys and pains that come with owning a lab,
she taught us that the labrador retriever was the breed for us,
to treasure the time you have with your canine
buddy because life is short, and the painful lesson of knowing
when to let go.  After Sadie's passing, we bought
our first labrador retriever puppy.  We haven't been the same
since!  For more information about the Labs of Antler Trails

About Antler Trails Kennel Up
Antler Trails Kennel Up began construction in 2003 and opened for business in January 2004.
Designed by Rick and Donna, their vision was a small boarding kennel that provided "personalized
care" for the dogs left in their care, along with providing peace of mind for the boarder's parents.  With
very few kennels in the area, the Edington's saw there was a need for quality boarding care, and add
in Donna's love of dogs and owning her own business again, it was a perfect fit.  Currently Antler Trails
Kennel Up should expand with additional kennels due to it's popularity, but Rick and Donna have
decided against it.  Bigger isn't always the best.  For more information about boarding at Antler Trails
Kennel Up, visit the boarding page!
Donna
Donna is the owner and primary caregiver to all her
boarding guests at Antler Trails Kennel Up.  While taking
care of her guests takes up much of her time, Donna loves
to train and spend time with her own dogs also.  She is a
Lifetime Member of the Duluth Retriever Club, the DRC
Hunt Test Secretary, DRC Webmaster, and was voted
2008 Volunteer of the Year (along with Rick) at the DRC.
Donna obedience trains with her labs at Twin Ports Dog
Training Club, along with volunteering her time as their
webmaster.  She began running AKC Hunt Tests in 2007,
handling "Bear" to his Junior Hunter Title.
The non-profit organization, Canine Companions for
Independence is also very close to Donna's heart.  As a
volunteer puppy raiser for CCI, Donna has met so many
"special" people, from her fellow puppy raisers to the
graduates who receive the dogs.  It has truly been one of
the most rewarding (and tearful) experiences she has
been a part of.  Donna's other interests include:
photography, wine-making, four-wheeling in the woods,
renovating or remodeling projects, and Vikings football.
Rick
Rick helps out, where/when needed, in the kennel.  So
Donna can have some time off, he steps up and
handles the daily needs of the guests.  Rick is the
Transportation Director for ULF in Cloquet/Northfield
MN.  While that keeps him extremely busy, he enjoys
training/hunting our labs.  Rick is a Lifetime Member of
the DRC, the DRC Hunt Test Chairman, DRC Board
Member, and was voted 2008 Volunteer of the Year
(along with Donna) at the DRC.  He is an active AKC
Hunt Test Judge and has successfully trained and titled
our labs in Junior, Senior and Master levels.  Rick, along
with Donna's help, started the Hunt Test Training Group
at the DRC in 2007, teaching the do's and don'ts of the
Hunt Test game to fellow club members.
Rick's other interests include:  hunting the Iowa and
Dakota terrain with our labs, puppy raising for CCI,
wine-making, any form or type of construction project,
Vikings football, and playing with his bull-dozer.
